Jump, jump postmortem

First of all, I should've really stated it upfront that this is an interactive story rather than a usual game.

I think many people focused mainly on jumping over the bar. Maybe I should've expected this, as this might've been seemed like a goal of the game. That was however not the case. I also got questions whether one can actually make that jump. Well, no, it's not possible to jump over the bar. No matter how fast you keep pressing the keys, you will not be able to make that jump. In fact, at later stages, character jumps lower and lower. This is accompanied with other visual changes. The variation was probably too low, though.

I guess gamers are usually used to the fact that when a game presents a challenge, it's possible to overcome or beat it. This probably caused them to focus on this particalar task and ignore the rest of the game, the poem in particular. It is probably a bit hard to notice that the lines are not random and they fit together and convey the meaning of the story. This whole story is just a visualisation for the poem.

The graphics was meant to be simple, but were probably way too crude. I just didn't want the player to focus on the visual layer so that they could put more attention to the lines of each day.

If you want an extra challenge, the poem has a reference to a song - try to find it.
